L. Russell Peggy Core, right, selects wood or a fire on Good Harbor Bay Friday night at one of 14 bonfires lighted along the shoreline. The Michigan Millennium Project promoted lighting fires last summer all around the "mitt" of Michigan, so it could be photographed from space. Leelanau 2000 picked up on the project and ran a test Friday to see if the event was possible for 2001. Saturday October 14, 2000 |
