Education Mission Statement

The educational component of the MMP was established to promote, clarify and share the unique creative and artistic aspects of the proposed celebration of the coming millennium. To best serve these goals, the educational projects should parallel this artistic, interdisciplinary, and participatory vision.

The focus, therefore, will be placed on three major areas of development.

1. Creativity
2. Arts and Technology
3. Public Participation in the Final Celebrations

The MMP will take a facilitators role to initiate a pilot project whereby selected educator will be invited to participate in the initial designs of educational projects. The basic premise and guidelines of the projects are designed to produce artistic outcomes.

• The artistic, symbolic, and metaphoric use of light
• Experimental use of multi-media
• Interdisciplinary collaboration
• Networking between pilot schools via internet communication
• Web-site promotion of project development

Through the promotion of the pilot project it is our plan that many other schools will find this project interesting enough to join our network and participate in concert, to display their creations celebrating the year 2000.
